About the Potting Shed

Emma & Nicole

Emma and her family moved to Surrey from London in 2020.  Emma had a career in the fashion and design industry as an accomplished fashion buyer, fashion creative, interior designer and stylist with over 25 years experience but in spite of this she had always dreamt of having her own plant and flower shop one day.  After covid the fashion industry changed dramatically and as Emma entered into Senior management she realised her creativity was becoming less and less part of her job she once loved.  She had a dream that she opened a shop in Oxted called The Potting Shed and within a week met Nicole through a mutual friend.  They chatted about the idea over a few glasses of wine and when the space in Wickhams Yard, Limpsfield came up for rent they decided to go for it!  The shop opened on the 17th March 2023.

Nicole started floristry at the age of 17, within a year in the profession she won National Junior Florist of the year at 18. She has worked for a number of years in leading west end florists including Moyses Stevens, Harrods, & Sloane Street and Jane Packer - Marylebone and then at Royal Garden Hotel in  Kensington where she managed the flower and plants for the whole hotel.

Nicole has created and led numerous weddings and many creative installations in leading London venues.

Nicole left London to have kids and has since been looking for the right opportunity to start her floristry career again.  Meeting Emma was just what she needed.  With her creativity and knowledge and Emma's vision and business experience it was a match made in heaven.
